The Toyota Yaris will be available in two variants – V (base) and VX. The Toyota Yaris is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine and can be had with either a standard 6-speed manual transmission or an optional CVT auto with paddle shifters. In the neighbouring markets, the 1.5-litre petrol puts out 108PS of max power and 140Nm of peak torque. There’s no word on the Toyota Yaris diesel as of now. The Toyota Yaris packs seven airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, disc brakes on all four corners and ISOFIX child seat anchors as standard. Also on offer are projector headlamps, daytime running LEDs, a 7-inch infotainment system, tail lamps with LED graphics, auto climate control with roof-mounted rear AC vents and a powered driver’s seat, among others. At the last, it will all boil down to the pricing of the Toyota Yaris. Since it is competing with Hyundai, Honda and Maruti Suzuki, Toyota has to keep the pricing bang-on. The Yaris will be manufactured in India at the Toyota’s plant in Karnataka indicating that the Yaris is likely to be priced very competitively. We are anticipating a starting price of Rs 8 Lakh, with the top model going upwards of Rs 12 Lakh.
